Refund Policy

1. The Community Edition is free

Open Satchel's Community Edition is free under AGPL-3.0. There's nothing to refund.

2. Self-serve commercial licenses (Nonprofit, Small, Mid-market, Large)

We offer a 30-day satisfaction guarantee on these tiers, purchased through Lemon Squeezy.

• If you request a refund within 30 days of purchase, you get a full refund, no questions asked.
• After 30 days, the annual license is non-refundable. Your license stays active for the remainder of the term.
• Refunds are issued to the original payment method by Lemon Squeezy. Processing typically takes 5-10 business days to appear on your statement.

3. Engine SDK, Source engine, OEM, and other custom-contracted licenses

These tiers are governed by the signed agreement, not this page. In general:

• Engine SDK and Source engine licenses are non-refundable once the deliverables (signed builds, source archive, repo access) have been transferred. The agreement may specify a pilot or evaluation period before final acceptance — terms vary by deal.
• OEM and redistribution agreements are non-refundable. Terms for early termination, if any, are in the agreement.
• If the deliverable hasn't been transferred yet and you want to cancel, contact licensing@opensatchel.dev.

4. Renewals

Annual subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled before the renewal date. Lemon Squeezy sends a renewal-reminder email 7 days before the charge.

• To cancel auto-renewal: use the customer portal link in your original receipt, or email licensing@opensatchel.dev.
• If a renewal charges and you didn't intend to renew, email us within 14 days for a full refund of the renewal.

5. How to request a refund

Two paths, both work:

• Email licensing@opensatchel.dev with your order number (in your original receipt) and a one-line note. We'll process it.
• Use the Lemon Squeezy customer portal linked in your receipt — "Request refund" is right there.

We aim to respond within one business day. The actual money movement is handled by Lemon Squeezy and takes 5-10 business days to land back on your card.

6. What we won't refund

To set expectations:

• Past the 30-day window for self-serve annual licenses, except for unintended renewals (which have the 14-day window above).
• VAT/GST/sales tax — Lemon Squeezy collects and remits these to governments; refunds follow the rules of the jurisdiction. Where required, the tax is refunded with the principal.
• Engine/Source/OEM deliverables that have been transferred and where the signed agreement says no.

7. Statutory rights

Nothing in this policy limits any statutory consumer-protection rights you have under your local law (for example, EU/UK distance-selling cooling-off periods). Where local law gives you stronger refund rights than this policy, your local law applies.
